Winona’s History Revealed

Hello everyone, I hope you are all managing to stay warm and avoid the winter blues. And, if you’re looking for something to do, I might suggest checking out the Winona County Historical Society. Wait, I know what you’re all thinking, “Historical Society?” Yes, I admit that I have been living in Winona half of my life, and have never set foot in this building. But, due to a recent field trip for my Arts Organization Class, I have finally been able to experience it. And I was blown away.
The historical society has just added on a new multi-million dollar addition that really compliments the original building. The ambiance of the new with the old working together in one building is really what this place is about: history and the present. It’s a really great building steeped in knowledge and the past. Admission for students is 3 dollars with your student ID, and, if you’re going to for local research in their archival library, you can get in for free. Also, if you want to bring a friend who isn’t a student, their charge is 6 dollars.
There is almost always something going on at the Winona County Historical Society, and is a great way to learn more about the local area, and history of Winona. So, if you need something to do this weekend, go ahead and check it out.
